XENIA — A driver was transported to the hospital after falling asleep at the wheel Tuesday.
At 2:35 p.m. Tuesday, Brandon Giddens, 20, of Cisne was driving a black 1998 Chervrolet S-10 truck northbound, approaching Illinois Route 50. Giddens told police that he then passed out the wheel and traveled across Route 50 and into the path of a red 2014 International truck-tractor driven by Walter Prestige of Battle Ground, Washington, who was driving westbound.
Prestige was unable to stop in time and struck the rear passenger side of Giddens' vehicle. Both vehicles were damaged in the accident.
Giddens was transported to Clay County Hospital with injuries.
