---- — The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation is well known for publicizing the misdeeds of licensed professionals who have had their licenses suspended or revoked.

But the IDFPR has decided to share good news, as well. The department recently began posting a list of those who have earned licenses in a multitude of professions that require licensing.

Department spokeswoman Susan Hofer said there are two primary reasons why the new licensees are being publicized.

“First, Gov. (Pat) Quinn has urged all executive branch agencies to make public as much information as possible,” Hofer said. “Secondly, a new licensee in your town may mean new jobs in your town that can help grow local economies. We think that’s very important.”

Hofer said posting the list shows “the flip side of regulation.”

“We want to make sure people have the proper training and experience,” she said.

New licensees listed in the May report earned their licenses between April 15 and May 14.

Several new licenses were granted to area cemeteries with either partial or full exemptions. Hofer said a partial exemption was granted to cemeteries either church- or government-owned, as well as those who have had 25 or fewer burials in each of the last two years. The church-owned cemeteries do not, she said, include those on church grounds.

Full exemptions, she said, were granted to family cemeteries, cemeteries on church grounds, cemeteries of less than three acres, and cemeteries that have had no burials in the last 10 years.

Here is a list of area licensees by city:

Wendte, certified public accountant; Andrew R. Cohorst, athletic trainer; Tabatha Ray Carruthers, permanent employee registration; Mandy J. Wendte, massage therapist.
