LILLYVILLE — A Lillyville-area teen said Friday’s severe weather included a tornado that touched down in an open field in southwest Cumberland County.
Teutopolis High School senior Joseph Vogt said he was working on a planter at his family’s farm when he saw a group of funnel-like clouds threatening the area.
“We stopped what we were doing to watch,” Vogt said.
Vogt said he wasn’t frightened by the storm, though he added several of his younger brothers and sisters were concerned.
“I like storms,” he said. “It’s exciting.”
Vogt said one funnel appeared to touch down in an open field on the other side of a wooded area from the family farmstead.
The Vogts live on Cumberland County Road 350 N.
National Weather Service personnel in Lincoln were unavailable for comment this morning.
