Edgewood
Edgewood Fest Celebration will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 27, at Edgewood Ball Park.
On the schedule are:
11 a.m. Independence Motorcycle Poker Run. 9:30 a.m. registration at the ball park. $10 entry fee. 130-mile ride, 50/50 drawing and door prizes. Proceeds benefit Edgewood Fest.
3 p.m. Chicken noodle dinner at Danks Christian Community Center.
4 p.m. Parade kicks off. Line up at St. Annes Catholic Church, Edgewood.
5 to 6:30 p.m. We Are One! Community churches come together in the unity of the Spirit in Love with song.
7 p.m. Blue Suede Crew and Elvis and Johnny and June Carter Cash impersonators at Edgewood Christian Church.
7 to 9 p.m. Cruisin Entertainment DJ.
9 p.m. Raffle drawing.
9:15 p.m. Fireworks, sponsored by Village of Edgewood and Edgewood American Legion. Bring your lawn chairs. No one allowed in small village park or ball diamond during fireworks.
Lake Sara
Good Neighbors of Lake Sara will start the fireworks display at the lake promptly at 9:05 p.m. Friday, July 3. Raindate for the display is July 4.
Effingham
Events are planned in Effingham in celebration of the 4th of July.
Effingham events on Saturday, July 4, include:
All day Firecracker Car Show at Village Square Mall parking lot, sponsored by Classic Pony Car Club.
6 p.m. Parade in downtown Effingham.
Dusk Fireworks at Hendelmeyer Park, sponsored by Southtown Business Association. Rain date is July 5.
Farina
The Fourth of July celebration in Farina includes baseball, music, fireworks and food, all set for Saturday, July 4.
On the schedule are:
10 a.m. Wooden Bat Home Run Derby
Noon Food stands open
Noon Parade registration
1 p.m. Games
2 p.m. Parade
4 p.m. Bingo
4:30 p.m. Presentation of colors and National Anthem
5 p.m. Homecoming Choir
6 p.m. Dismal Creek Band
9 p.m. Recognition of local military
9:30 p.m. Fireworks
Other planned activities include food booths, cake walk and cash raffle. Sponsored by Farina American Legion 411 and Farina Fire Department. No alcohol allowed.
Dieterich
Dieterichs 4th of July event will be held Friday, July 3, and Saturday, July 4, Liberty Park.
Activities scheduled are:
Friday, July 3
8 p.m. to 11 p.m. Rock Bottom Country in the beer garden. Sloppy joes, hot dogs and chips will be available.
Saturday, July 4
8 a.m. 5K walk/run in Liberty Park, Dieterich. 7 a.m. sign up. Entries due by June 27 for $15 entry fee. Entry fee $18 after June 27. No bikes, roller blades or pets allowed. No entry fee refunds. 217-925-5751 for questions or to preregister. Proceeds benefit Dieterich Education Foundation.
10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Roast hog dinner at Dieterich Kluthe Civic Center. Barbecue pork, baked beans, potato salad, cole slaw, potato chips, cake and ice cream and drinks will be served. $7 for adults and $3 for children.
Noon Parade. Cheers for Volunteers is the parade theme. Lineup is at Dieterich High School. Call 217-925-5410 or 217-821-4679 to sign up or be in the high school parking lot before noon on the 4th.
2 p.m. Four-wheeler pull. 217-925-5355 or 618-686- 2044 to preregister for four-wheeler pull, or be there at 2 p.m.
4 p.m. Bed races. Call 217-925-5629 to register for bed races.
7 p.m. Young queen and king competition.
7:30 p.m. Talent show. 217-739-2395 to enter.
9 to 9:30 p.m. (dusk) Fireworks display.
In addition to the above activities, food booths, beer garden, Roach the Roosters duck race, pony rides, youth fishing tournament, washers tournament, pedal tractor pull, kids games and inflatable rides are planned during the celebration.
In addition, a cash raffle will be held with tickets $5 each. Tickets are available at Dieterich Village Hall or from celebration committee members.
Stewardson
Stewardson Independence Day Celebration is set for Sunday, June 28, at the village park.
Events planned for the celebration include:
11 a.m. Stewardson FFA food stand opens, serving pulled pork, ribeye steak dinner with cole slaw, apple sauce, chips and potato salad, pork burgers, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs and drinks.
1:30 p.m. Stewardson Veterans Memorial dedication. Public should bring lawn chairs.
3:30 p.m. Parade.
5 to 8 p.m. Stewardson Historical Museum open.
5:30 p.m. Kris Power Tumbling & Dance and Trampoline.
7 p.m. Dance ETC, cheer, dance and tumbling.
9 p.m. Fireworks.
Stewardson residents are asked to decorate their yards in red, white and blue and veterans attending the event are encouraged to wear their uniforms.
In addition to scheduled events, food booths will be open in the park and a 50/50 drawing will be held.
