Wesley “Wes” H. Harmeier, 75, of St. Peter, passed away at 6:45 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham.
Funeral services, officiated by the Rev. William Emrick, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Pagel Funeral Home, St. Peter, and one hour prior to service time Tuesday at the church. Memorials are requested to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, South Central Booster Club, St. Peter First Responders or Farina Ambulance Service.
Wes was born on Oct. 1, 1937, in Shobonier, Fayette County, the son of Alfred F. and Freida (Lorenz) Harmeier. He married Shirley Magnus on April 22, 1961, in St. Peter.
He was a farmer and had worked for Brown Produce, Magnus Hardware and the city of St. Peter. Wes was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, past St. Peter Village Board member and served on the St. Peter Prairie Days Committee. He enjoyed visiting Kings Garage and driving around St. Peter and out to the farm.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley of St. Peter; sons, Daniel (Kari) Harmeier and David Harmeier, both of St. Peter; brothers, Ron (Debbie) Harmeier of Shobonier and Robert (Norma) Harmeier of Decatur; brother-in-law, James Cheshier of Overland Park, Kan., and two grandsons, Derek and Brett Harmeier of St. Peter.
He was preceded in death by parents and sister Shirley Cheshier.
