J. Richard Cassady, 70, of Highland passed away Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013.

He was born July 1, 1942, in East St. Louis, the son of Theodore and Juanita (McDowell) Cassady, both of whom preceded him in death. He married Judith McCollum Dec. 1, 1961, at Methodist Temple Church, Chicago. After attending MacMurray College and the University of Findley, he received an executive MBA from the University of Illinois, Urbana, in June 1980. He was previously president and chief executive officer of Spartan Printing Company, Sparta, and retired as vice president from World Color Press in St. Louis and Effingham.
He is survived by his former wife, Judith; second wife, Cheryl; his children, Richard B. Cassady of Springfield, Ohio; Steven J. (Catherine) Cassady of Kohler, Wis.; Cara L. Cassady of Sheboygan, Wis.; Daniel L. (Jennifer) Cassady of West Lafayette, Ind.; and Patrick Cassady of Highland; eight grandchildren; four brothers, Dr. John M. (Nancy) Cassady, retired USMC Col. David J. Cassady, S. Patrick (Jodine) Cassady and T. Allen (Melissa) Cassady; one sister, Mary (Dennis) Kepler; many nieces and nephews; and two stepchildren, Stephanie and William.
