---- — Oliver Franklin Spicer, 102, of Louisville, passed away at 8:17 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28, 2013, at Clay County Hospital, Flora.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at J.W. Neal Funeral Home, Louisville. Interment will be at Oddfellows Cemetery, Xenia. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Oliver was born Sunday, Feb. 5, 1911, in Johnsonville, the son of Bundy Spicer and Winnie (Garrison) Spicer. He married Emma Walters in 1935 and Emma preceded him in death in 1975. He then married Martha Smith in Louisville, on June 6, 1980. Martha preceded him in death on Jan. 15, 2012. He was a member of Louisville United Methodist Church and worked in the steel mills for AK Steel in Kansas City, Mo. Oliver is survived by stepson, Richard Leon Farris of Louisville; stepdaughters, Nelda Jean (Jim) White of Iuka, and Brenda Sue (Jerry) Colman of Xenia; several nieces and nephews, Gene and Betty Pieplow of Xenia, Roy and Lulu Mae Rascher of Xenia, Rex and Betty Brown of Flora, Geraldine and Buss Foreman of Sailor Springs, Donnie and Gloria Brown of Kansas City, Mo., Linda and Dixon Barfield of Germany; and several stepnieces, stepnephews, stepgrandchildren and great-stepgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Emma (Walters) Spicer; second wife, Martha (Smith) Spicer; daughter-in-law, Lilly Farris; brothers, Guy Ayers, Eldon Spicer and Leland Spicer; sisters, Lois Brown and Martha Hammond; infant sister, Nettie Spicer; one stepgranddaughter; one great-stepgranddaughter; and one great-great-stepgrandson.
