Sherrie E. Thompson, 56, of Vandalia, died at 2:45 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, at St. John’s Hospital, Springfield.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today, Oct. 30, 2013, at First Christian Church, Brownstown, with Randy Whitehead officiating. Burial will be in Griffith Cemetery, rural Brownstown. Sherrie was born on Thursday, Oct. 17, 1957, in Hillsboro, to John L. and Muriel (Harding) Hefley Sr. She married James L. Thompson Sr. and they celebrated 38 years of marriage together. She was a homemaker and mother. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Brownstown.
She is survived by her husband, James L. Thompson Sr.; sons, James L. Thompson Jr. and John Thompson; mother, Muriel Hefley; brother, Raymond Hefley, all of Vandalia; uncle, Jim Hefley (wife Ann Lou) of Hillsboro; mother-in-law, Betty Burnheimer of Brownstown; brother-in-law, Kenny Thompson (wife Vivienne) of Steger; and niece, Brandi (husband Clayton) Rhodes of Brownstown.
She was preceded in death by her father; brother, John L. Hefley Sr.; son, Joey Thompson in infancy; and an uncle, Jim Harding.
