Randall Quick

Randall Lee “Randy” Quick, 49, of Dieterich, passed away at 1:50 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013, at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham. Funeral services celebrating Randy’s life will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church, Newton, with Steve Willis and Rick Britton officiating. Burial will be in Seifers-Wilson Cemetery, north west of Newton. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m.. today, Oct. 30, at Blake-Buchanan Funeral Home, Newton, and one hour prior to service time at the church. Randy was born on April 17, 1964, in Olney, the son of Danny and Margaret (Seifers) Quick. Randy married Lynn Priess on July 14, 2003, and she survives. Randy was known by many for being a talented musician playing with the Rumble Kats, Elm Street Blues, Ivory Grand and the Koonskynners. He was employed at Wente Plumbing for more than 13 years working as a pipefitter and most recently as a fire sprinkler project manager. Randy is survived by his wife, Lynn Quick of Dieterich; parents, Danny (Maxine) Quick of Newton, and Margaret (Richard) Mitchell of Newton; sons, Britton Quick of Newton, and Jesse (Shanna) Purgerson of Altamont; brothers, Lawrence (Connie) Quick of Robinson and Larry (Gwen) Quick of Newton; sister, Elizabeth (Josh) Homann of Dieterich; granddaughter, Dalilah Purgerson of Altamont; mother and father-in-law, Margaret and Harold Priess of Altamont; and several nieces, nephews, many close friends, band members and co-workers.
