---- — Irene Kreke, 90, of Effingham, passed away at 12:11 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28, 2013, at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham.	Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Centenary United Methodist Church, Effingham, with Dr. Joe Scheets officiating. Burial will be in Arborcrest Memorial Park, Effingham. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Johnson Funeral Home, Effingham, and from 9:30 a.m. until service time Friday at the church. Irene was born on May 22, 1923, in Shumway, the daughter of Elmer and Emma (Knierim) Hamilton. She married Steve Kreke on Nov. 5, 1946, in Effingham, and they would have celebrated 67 years of marriage. Irene was an active member of Centenary United Methodist Church, Effingham. She was very passionate about helping people through church activities, Meal on Wheels, FISH and Hospice Care. Irene was a kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She retired from the Illinois Glove Factory as a supervisor after 47 years of service.	Irene is survived by her husband, Steve Kreke of Effingham; son, Scott (Kathy) Kreke of Effingham; grandchildren, Lindsey (Luke) Althoff, Jenna Kreke and Trevor Kreke; twin great-grandsons, Vincent and Owen; sisters, Romaine Janes of Mattoon and Alice (John) Horn of Farmington, N.M.; and sister-in-law, Cheryl Hamilton of Effingham.
