Carl Warner

TOLEDO — Carl “Jump” Warner, 68, of rural Toledo, passed away at 11 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at Seton Specialty Hospital, Lafayette, Ind.

    There will be a visitation for family and friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Oct. 9, at Barkley Funeral Chapel, Greenup. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Life Center of Cumberland County, 507 E. Main, Toledo, IL. Online condolences can be expressed at www.barkleyfuneralchapels.com.

    Carl was born Oct. 21, 1943, in Clark County, the son of Clyde and Donna (Easton) Warner. He married Jonnie Matteson on May 18, 1968.

    Carl served his country in the Army from 1965 to 1967. He owned and operated the Montrose Shell Station from 1969 to 1976. He then went to work as a welder at Blaw-Knox in Mattoon for 25-plus years. In 2004, he was hired on at Eastern Illinois University as a janitor.

    He was a member of the Greenup Masonic Lodge 125, Danville Consistory, the Ainad Shriners and the Greenup VFW and American Legion.

    Surviving is his loving wife of 44 years; son, Jason (wife, Amy) Warner of Effingham; daughter, Jennifer (husband, Gary) Wellbaum of Ramsey; brother, Don Warner of Greenup; sisters, Bonnie Brandenburg of Toledo, Judy Lewis of Greenup and Norma Stewart of Casey; and five grandchildren, Faith and Hannah Wellbaum, Jacob and Ashlyn Warner and Kimberly Harshbarger.     

    He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Leland and Ivan Warner; and a sister, Bernice Walsh.
