---- — Louise Nichols, 85, of Newton, died at 8:05 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013, at Newton Rest Haven.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Central Christian Church, Newton, with Mike Knepper officiating. Burial will be in Island Creek Cemetery, Montrose. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the church. Memorials may be made to Central Christian Church in Newton. Online condolences may be left at www.blakefh.com.
Louise was born on Nov. 21, 1927 in Woodbury, rural Cumberland County, the daughter of Luther “Shorty” and Jennie (Myers) Oakley. She married Bernard Nichols on Oct. 18, 1951 and he preceded her in death on Oct. 26, 1998.
Louise worked for more than 30 years at E.R. Moore in Newton, IL. Louise loved playing music and embroidering. She was a member of the Central Christian Church in Newton.
Louise is survived by: daughters, Judy (John) Weaver of Vermillion Grove, Barb Mitchell of Gila, Sandy (Dale) Bower of Newton, and Betty Gish of Oblong; brother, Bill (Betty) Oakley of Newton; sister, Reba Griffith of Newton; and 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Shirley Jean Oakley; sons-in-law, Don Mitchell and Terry Gish; and great-grandson, Andrew Bower.
