Robert Joseph Marty, age 89, of Paducah, Ky., went home to be with the Lord at 12:30 p.m. Friday, May 17, 2013, from Lourdes Hospital.
A memorial mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. A memorial graveside service will be conducted at a later date at the Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside.

Mr. Marty was born on Oct. 2, 1923, in Chicago, where he married Barbara Stouffer in 1956. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, serving in the Air Transport Command Stateside and the European Theatre in the Azore Islands. He worked for Cuneo Press in Chicago, transferring to their Kokomo, Indiana Division where he became Director of Manufacturing. When this plant was absorbed by world Color Press in 1976, he was transferred to Effingham where he completed 43 years in the printing industry, retiring in 1989.
He was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church. While in Effingham, he was a member of the St. Anthony Church. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post 120, Elks Lodge 1020, The Effingham Sportsbackers, and an avid sports fan.
Mr. Marty is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barbara; two daughters, Tina Marie Eggemeyer and her husband, Rich, of Paducah, Ky., and Bonnie Martoccio, of Glendale Heights; one sister, Tina Connolly of Chicago; and seven grandchildren, Morgan Eggemeyer, Alexis Eggemeyer, Nicholas Eggemeyer, and Joseph Eggemeyer, all of Paducah, Ky.; Cheryl Swanson and her husband, John, and their children, Jonathon Swanson and Ava Swanson of Carol Stream, Margaret DiSantis and her daughter, Lucianna, of Bloomdale, and Joseph DiSantis and his wife, Misty, and their daughter, Gia, of Houston.
He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Marty Jr.
