---- — Mildred Pauline Gearing, 95, of Newton, died at 10:50 a.m. Friday, May 17, 2013, at Heartland Health Care Center in Champaign.
Funeral services will be held at noon Tuesday at Crain Funeral Home, Newton, with John Cummins officiating. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery, Newton, with the Rev. Tim Pearce officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial gifts for Pauline may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, Newton. A daughter of Elza and Daisy Allison, Pauline was born on Feb. 5, 1918, in Rose Hill. She graduated from Newton Community High School in 1936. She married Delbert L. Romack on Dec. 14, 1938. He died Dec. 26, 1972. On March 27, 1982, Pauline married Robert Gearing. He died Feb. 16, 1995. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Newton, and the Household Science Club.
Surviving are two daughters, Shirley (Jerry) Cummins of Danville and Sandra (David) Morgan of Slidell, La.; and daughter-in-law, Sharon Romack Smith of Newton. One son, Keith D. Romack, preceded her in death Jan. 12, 2003. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Ronda Mahaffey, Randy Romack, Robin Peterson, Jamee Fouts, John Cummins, Jay Cummins, Susan Humes, Greg Morgan and Aimee Smith; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Pauline was preceded in death by her brother, Elza Allison Jr.; and her sister, Rowena McCoy.
