---- — Carl Ray Glidewell, 73, of Jewett, passed away at 4:02 p.m. Saturday, May 4, 2013, at his residence.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Barkley Funeral Chapel, Greenup. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral chapel. Burial with full military rites by Cumberland County veterans will be in Jewett Cemetery. Memorials can be made to Greenup VFW or St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Carl was born Sept. 22, 1939, in Hazel Dell, the son of Guy & Bertha (Myers) Glidewell. He married Jeannette L. Kingery on April 10, 1966, Hazel Dell.
Carl was a water well driller with Layne-Western Co. Inc. and was a 50-year member of Midwest Operating Engineers IUOE Local 150. He served in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1969. He was a life member of the Greenup VFW Post 4598 where he served as senior vice.
Surviving is his wife; son, Carl Glidewell Jr. (wife, Betty) of Jewett; two granddaughters, Cheyenne Glidewell and Shawnee Glidewell; one great-grandson, Braeden Peters; brother, John Glidewell of Casey; and sisters, Betty Applegate of Casey and Claris Hitt of Toledo.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Russell, Guy Jr. and Thomas; and twin sister, Carolyn.
