---- — Wayne “Joe” Huddlestun, 83, of rural Greenup, passed away at 9:30 a.m. Friday April 26, 2013, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Mattoon.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. today, April 30, at Barkley Funeral Chapel, Greenup. Burial will be in Block Cemetery, rural Greenup. Visitation was held Monday at the funeral chapel. Memorials may be made to the Life Center of Cumberland County, American Cancer Society, Greenup Fire Department or the donor’s choice. Online condolences may be left at www.barkleyfuneralchapels.com.
Joe was born March 8, 1930, in Yale, to Carlyle and Clara (Paul) Huddlestun. He married Wanda “Imogene” Newlin on March 30, 1951. She survives. Joe worked at Ettelbrick Shoe Co. and retired from Quinn Broom Works. He was a member of the Greenup Sportsman’s Club and enjoyed fishing, deer hunting and mushroom hunting. He loved spending time with family and dancing at his grandchildren’s weddings and the Greenup Hootenanny. Although Joe was not affiliated with any church, it is a great comfort to the family knowing that he accepted the Lord as his Savior.
In addition to his wife, Joe is survived by his children, Carl (Karla) Huddlestun of Greenup, Bonnie (Richard) Gilbert of Fairmount, Lee Huddlestun of Greenup, Betty (Chuck) Carr of Hidalgo, Bill (Kay) Huddelstun of Newton, Carolyn (Ken) Wolke of Montrose, Marilyn (Dave) Shumard of Greenup and Velva Paul (friend, Terry Reeley) of Greenup; sister, Mary Cleo Strong of Greenup; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Ed Newlin; sister, Sarah; and brothers, Clarence, Forrest, Raymond “Buck” and Kenneth.
