Betty M. Wendt, 66, of Effingham, passed away at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012, at her home.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Francis Catholic Church, Teutopolis, with entombment in Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Bauer Funeral Home, Teutopolis. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice. Online condolences may be left at www.bauerfh.com.
Betty was born June 14, 1946, in Pauls Valley, Okla., the daughter of James and Ruby (Crawford) Ferguson. She married Leonard J. Wendt on May 22, 1986, and he preceded her in death in 2001. Betty was a member of St. Francis Church in Teutopolis.
Betty is survived by two sons, John Wesselman of Effingham and Justin (Shannon) Wendt of Mascoutah; two daughters, Cathy “Cate” (Linus) Thoele of Teutopolis and Melinda (Dennis) Herboth of Effingham; siblings, Robert (Judy) Ferguson of Alamogordo, N.M., Mittie (Bobby) Edman of Bakersfield, Calif., Lequita (C.L.) Burch of El Centro, Calif., Wayne Ferguson of Imperial, Calif., Tom Ferguson of Las Vegas, Nev., Rebecca (Cliff) Brown of Colorado Springs, Colo., and John Ferguson of Indianapolis; 14 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leonard; and two brothers, Jearl Ferguson and Sidney Ferguson.
