---- — Joan Klay, 81, of Effingham, went to be with the Lord on Sunday evening, Jan. 26, 2014, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
Funeral services for Joan will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Effingham with the Rev. Theodore C. Gall officiating. Burial will be in Oakridge Cemetery in Effingham. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Hall Funeral Chapel in Effingham. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Eagles Nest Preschool Program at St. John’s Church or to the donor’s choice. Condolences may be left online at www.hallfuneralchapel.com.
Joan was born on Nov. 2, 1932, in Pana, the daughter of Guy and Lula (Sims) Edwards. She married Jack Klay on Sept. 9, 1951, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Pana. Joan was a homemaker and a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Effingham.
Survivors include husband, Jack; two daughters, Karen (Mark) Flach and Karla (Robert) Flach, all of Effingham; son, Eric (Jeanetta) Klay of Dieterich; brother, Robert (Barb) Edwards of Paxton; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
