Norma A. Tipsword, 76, of Springfield, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, at Capitol Care Center.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, at James D. Memorial Chapel in Springfield.
She was born the daughter of Noble and Louise Priess, on March 1, 1937, in Altamont. Norma was a 1960 graduate of the Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in St. Louis, and held various nursing positions in Effingham and Springfield. Norma loved cats, wearing hats and making any plant grow. She also was a talented piano and flute player.
She is survived by two sons, Jeff (wife Lisa) of Grassy Key, Fla., and Jason (Penny Woessner) of Streamwood; two grandchildren, Autumn and Aaron of Florida; one sister, Vera (Logan) Mellendorf of Louisville; and nieces and nephews.
