---- — James Lewis Boyd Sr., 63, of Thompsonville, passed away at 9:32 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, at Salem Township Hospital.
Memorial service will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Neal Funeral Home, Kinmundy, with Masonic rites at 11:15 a.m. Cremation rites will be accorded. Visitation will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Kinmundy EMT’s and will be received at the funeral home. James was born Thursday, July 6, 1950, in Salem, the son of William Arthur “Art” and Marjorie “Marge” (Vanderwolk) Boyd. He was a retired employee of the Illinois Central/Canadian National Railroad as well as a member of the Kinmundy Masonic Lodge. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and golfing.
James is survived by his mother, Marge Boyd of Marshall; companion, Brenda Thomson of Kinmundy; sons, James (Rosie) Boyd Jr. of Litchfield, Joe (Angela) Boyd of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Craig (Brandi) Boyd of Hillsboro; daughters, Diana Rich of Herrin, Lara McRoy of Thompsonville, and Linda Michelle Boyd of Thompsonville; brother, William A. (Anna) Boyd Jr. of Mattoon; sister, Linda (John) James of Marshall; mother of his three sons, Jean Young of Hillsboro; mother of his three daughters, Pamela Boyd of Thompsonville; 20 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his father, William “Art” Boyd.
