Robert Gaylon Colclasure, 66, of Farina, passed away at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014 at Nature Trail Nursing Home, Mt. Vernon.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at Pagel Funeral Home in Edgewood. Interment will follow in Iola Cemetery, with full military services. Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to service. Memorials may be made to the Iola Cemetery or the Edgewood American Legion.
He was born on Dec. 8, 1947 in Clay County, the son of Gerald G. and Mary E. (Sapp) Colclasure. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era. He was a laborer, worked in the oilfields and was a trucker. He was a member of the Edgewood American Legion Post 1168. He loved to tell stories and play horseshoes and shuffle board. He also loved to go squirrel hunting and fishing.
Gaylon is survived by his sons, Cody Colclasure of Springfield, Brian Colclasure of Heartville and Bradley Colclasure of Newton; daughter, Della Butler of De Soto, Mo.; Brother, Gene Colclasure of Flora; sisters, Patsy (husband Bill) Laycoax of Iola, Debbie (husband John) Norman of Salem, Denise (husband Don) Ellis of Xenia and Carol (husband Frank) Miller of Farina; step-sister Sharon (Cruse) Werner of Springfield; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jerry, Lyle Colclasure and Dennis Cruse; and sister, Cheryl Green.
