---- — Doris Hoecherl, 80, of Willow Hill, passed from this life to her eternal home at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, at Decatur Memorial Hospital, surrounded by the love of her family.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Ste. Marie, with the Rev. Mike Haag celebrating Mass. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ste. Marie. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Blake-Buchanan Funeral Home, Newton, and one-half hour before the Mass at the church. In loving memory of Doris, memorials may be made to Ste. Marie Post 932 American Legion for Veterans. Blake-Buchanan Funeral Home, Newton, is in charge of the arrangements. Doris was born on March 17, 1933, in New Castle, Ind., the daughter of Charles and Audrey (Steinson) Staley. She married Fred Hoecherl on Oct. 24, 1959, in Robinson, and he preceded her in death on March 19, 1999. Doris was a devoted farmer’s wife and mother. She enjoyed crafting, reading, cooking for her family especially baking, working outside and gardening. She was always there for her family and friends. She was a member of St. Mary’s of the Assumption Catholic Church and the Ladies Auxiliary of St. Marie Post 932 American Legion.
Doris is survived by daughters, Teresa Hoecherl of West Union, and Mary Hoecherl of Willow Hill; grandson, Josh Bobbitt of Willow Hill; and brothers, Charles (Carolyn) Staley of Casey, and Delmar (Carolyn) Staley of Mahomet.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four brothers, Ralph Staley, Vic Staley, Russell Staley, and Paul Staley; and an infant sister.
