---- — Dwain H. “Kit” Carson, 72, of Toledo, passed away at 6:42 p.m. April 20, 2013, at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Barkley Funeral Chapel, Toledo. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral chapel. Burial with military rites will be in Tippett Cemetery, rural Toledo. Online condolences may be expressed at www.barkleyfuneralchapels.com.
Kit retired from General Electric in Mattoon after 30-plus years. He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He was a life member of the Toledo American Legion Post 764. Memorials can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
Dwain was born on Aug. 1, 1940, in Charleston, the son of Robert and Lucille (Reed) Carson. Surviving is his children, Marci (Kevin) Oberley of Oakland, Robert (Patty) Carson of Delta Junction, Alaska, and John (Rachel) Carson of Charleston; sister, Donna (Ken) Graham of Greenup; six grandchildren, Alan Hills, Neumasia Titus, Joshua Carson, America Carson, Autumn Carson and Silas Carson.
Dwain was preceded in death by his parents.
