Effingham Daily News

---- — Our son and brother, Scott Alan Kingery, age 53, of the Orlando, Fla., area, and formerly of Effingham, went to his eternal home April 14, 2013.

A time of visitation and remembrance will be from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Friday at Hall Funeral Chapel, Effingham. A memorial service honoring Scott will follow the visitation. Memorials may be made to Heartland Human Services, Effingham. Online condolences may be made at www.hallfuneralchapel.com. Scott’s death was sudden and unexpected.

Scott was born Dec. 23, 1959, in Peoria, the son of Dallas and Hazel (Kirchoff) Kingery. He attended Effingham schools, graduating from EHS in 1978. He then completed his formal education at Illinois State University and Eastern Illinois University.

Scott was among the first generation of kids to grow up in the new Rollin Hills subdivision in Effingham, where empty lots became ball fields and where there was a woods to explore before progress took them away. At EHS, Scott was an outstanding athlete in both football and track, earning much recognition.

While completing his college education, he worked for Crossroads Bank and later at PSI before leaving his hometown. He then worked for companies in the bank/software field, most recently senior systems analyst in the banking software business.

Scott never married and leaves two brothers, Todd (Tina) Kingery of Edgewood and Brett (Stef) Kingery of Effingham; nieces, Dannielle (Kyle) Harden of Effingham and Lexi Kingery of Chicago; nephews, Rob (Laynn) Kingery of Murphyboro and Ollie Kingery of Effingham; grandnieces: Juliana and Kalli Harden of Effingham; longtime friend, Tami Walters of Orlando, Fla.; aunts and uncles, Virginia Fulk of Effingham, Forrest Kingery of Casey, Joyce (Terry) Stibal of Pearland, Texas, Loleta (Noble) Brown of rural Trilla and Nancy Kirchhoff of Chapel Hill, Tenn.

Scott was preceded in death by an infant sister, Melanie Beth, in 1970; grandparents, Granville and Iva Kingery and Herman and Geneva Kirchhoff; and several aunts and uncles.
