---- — Robert Ray Baughman, 69, of Dieterich, passed away at 1:15 p.m. Monday, June 10, 2013, at his home.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Blake-Wright Funeral Home, Dieterich, with Nate Hagen officiating. Burial will be in Dieterich Village Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. In loving memory of Bob, memorials may be made to the Dieterich American Legion Post 628. Robert was born on Jan. 1, 1944, in Chicago, the son of Ray and Maxine (Mayhew) Baughman. He married Colleen McDade on Aug. 9, 1965, in San Antonio. Robert served his country in the United States Army from April 1964 until April of 1967. Robert retired from Newton Power Station after many years of service. Robert was a member of the Dieterich American Legion Post 628 and the Union Local 702. Robert enjoyed motorcycle riding, playing golf, fishing, hunting and shooting guns.
Robert is survived by wife of 47 years, Colleen Baughman of Dieterich; mother, Maxine Chaplin of Mattoon; three children, Todd (Susan) Baughman of Mattoon, Jake (fiance, Billie Haarmann) Baughman of Dieterich, and Matt (Stephanie) Baughman of Franklin, N.C.; six grandchildren, Brandi (Anthony) Chastain of Ft. Campbell, Ky., Brock Baughman of Ft. Bragg, N.C., Brett Baughman of Mattoon, Alex Baughman of Effingham, Hailey Baughman of Franklin, N.C., Evan Baughman of Franklin, N.C.; four brothers, Bill (Jill) Bell of Mattoon, Jim (Joyce) Bell of Mattoon, Steve (Cinda) Bell of Bridgeport, and Doug (Andi) Bell of Mattoon.
Robert was preceded in death by his father; stepfather, William Bell; and son, Brian Keith Baughman.
