---- — Lucille A. “Lucy” Probst, 89, of rural Wheeler, died at 1:44 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013, at her home.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Island Grove, with the Rev. Joe Carlos celebrating Mass. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Island Grove. Visitation will be held 4-7 p.m. Sunday at the church with a rosary at 4 p.m. In loving memory of Lucy, memorials may be made to the Dieterich Civic Center or to the donor’s choice. Lucille A. better known as Lucy was born Aug. 9, 1924, in Lillyville, the daughter of John and Catherine (Holkenbrink) Will. She married Leonard “Bill” Probst on April 29, 1944, and he preceded her in death on April 9, 2000. Lucy was a homemaker and loving mother. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Island Grove of St. Isidore Parish and a member of CCW. Lucy enjoyed reading, crocheting, playing cards and hosting Saturday morning coffee club. Lucy’s greatest treasure was her family and spending time with them.
Lucy is survived by children, Robert (Rita) Probst of Wheeler, Tom (Marie) Probst of Georgetown, Ky., Jerry (Elaine) Probst of Wheeler, Judy Bennett of Charleston, Norma (Bill) Rife of Atwater, Calif., Dot (Mark) Behrns of Teutopolis, Theresa (Jvee) Harner of Effingham, and Tina (John) McCrary of Atlanta; brother, LeRoy Will of Effingham; sister-in-law, Luella Will of Newton; 18 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
Lucy was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Mary Ann Probst; grandson Jason Bennett; son-in-law, Randy Bennett; sister, Isabel Hoelscher; and three brothers, Victor, Edwin and Albert Will.
