---- — Gary A. Eaton, 74, of Effingham, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Nov. 11, 2013, following a year-long battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Effingham, with the Rev. Roger Marshall officiating. Burial will be in Watson Cemetery, Watson. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday prior to the service at the church. Services are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home, Effingham. Born Aug. 13, 1939, in Effingham, one of eight children, to John M. and Ruth A. (Walker) Eaton. He was a lifelong resident of Plainfield and Effingham, and was a member of the Chicago Pipefitters Local 597 for 52 years. Gary was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His last wishes were to die at the home of his daughter with his children at his side. God provided him with everything he ever needed and his family will always cherish the time he was with them.
Survived by his children, Lora Hunt (Mark) of Morris, Dan Eaton (Sheila) of Minooka, Gary Eaton Jr. (Sherry) of Homer Glen, and Rebecca Eaton of Charleston; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents, and loving wife of 49 years, Erma (Kissinger).
