---- — Ronald A. Holste, 67, of Slater, Mo., formerly of Marshall, died Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013, at Harry S. Truman Veterans Hospital, Columbia, Mo.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, Mo., with William W. Harlow officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Higginsville. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to family choice. Born Oct. 4, 1945, in Vandalia, he was the son of the late Arvie Holste and Emma Becker Holste who survives of Effingham. He was raised in Altamont, where he was a graduate of Altamont High School and a member of Blue Point Lutheran Church. On May 5, 1979, he married Carla Tipsword who survives of the home. Ron had a career of over 40 years as a truck driver, retiring in 2009, and lived in Slater the last two years, previously living in Marshall. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by children, William Byers of Slater, Mo., Stephanie Byers of Mattoon, Chasta O’Dell of Charleston, Aaron Holste of Higginsville, Mo., and Derek Holste of Slater, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; four brothers, Randy Holste of Midlothian, Terry Holste of Douglas, Ga., Tim Holste of Effingham, and Steve Holste of Altamont; as well as nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two grandchildren and one brother.
