James “Fred” Fouty, 84, of Newton, formerly of Oblong, passed from this life on Friday, Aug. 16, 2013, at 9:53 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Blake-Buchanan Funeral Home, Newton, with the Rev. Mike Knepper officiating. Burial will be in Brick Cemetery, Newton. Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at www.blakefh.com.
Fred was born Feb. 23, 1929, in Yale, the son of Frank Fouty and Nora Alice (Akins) Fouty. He worked for L.S. Heath and Sons in Robinson for over 20 years and was a member of the St. Marie American Legion and Central Christian Church, Newton. Fred served his country in the United States Army. He married Lora Ellen Stewart on Dec. 24, 1949, and she survives.
Also surviving are his daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Rick Seamon of Oblong, and Jean and Don Mitchell of Kansas City, Mo.; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Verma Elder and Thelma Freeland; and 3 brothers in infancy.
