---- — Marian R. Schultz, 96, of Teutopolis, passed away at 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, at Lakeland Rehabilitation & Health Care Center, Effingham.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Teutopolis. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church. There will be a 4 p.m. CCW Rosary and a 7 p.m. parish prayer service Wednesday. Memorials may be made to St. Francis Church or to Catholic Charities. Bauer Funeral Home, Teutopolis, is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be left at www.bauerfh.com.
Marian was born June 21, 1917, in Teutopolis, the daughter of Louis and Emma (Miller) Brumleve. She married August L. “Gus” Schultz on Oct. 12, 1938, in Teutopolis, and he preceded her in death in 1996. Marian was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis, St. Francis CCW, the Secular Franciscans and the St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
Beyond playing cards with her family and friends, Marian, was an accomplished musician who volunteered her time playing the organ and piano at church and entertaining residents in the nursing home until the age of 95.
Marian is survived by her son, Jerry (Jane) of Effingham; five daughters, Mary Beth (John) Thomas of Pinehurst, N.C., Lois (Paul) Hartke of Effingham, Connie (Tom) Wegman of Effingham, Jeanne (Jerry) Brickley of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Suzanne (Dennis) Boudreau of Quincy; sister, Delores Esker of Teutopolis; and brother, Claude (Geraldine) Brumleve of Effingham; 17 grandchildren; and 37 great-grandchildren.
Marian was preceded in death by her parents; husband; granddaughter, Gwen Thomas; brother, Joseph Brumleve and infant brother, Louis.
