---- — Lucille E. Probst, 87, of Effingham, died peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, April 29, 2013, at Brookstone Suites in Effingham.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Effingham, with burial in St. Anthony Cemetery. A Council of Catholic Women rosary will be held at 4:30 p.m. for those wishing to attend. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Bauer Funeral Home, Effingham, with a 6:30 p.m. parish wake service. Memorials may be made to Catholic Charities or St. Anthony schools. Lucille was born Oct. 19, 1925, in Effingham County, the daughter of Henry and Clara (Eckjan) Probst. She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham and the St. Anthony Council of Catholic Women. Lucille worked many years at National Studio in Effingham, taking portraits and hand painting photos. She was a familiar face at Underriner Pharmacy in downtown Effingham and later Lustig Pharmacy. After Lucille retired, she lovingly cared for her mother for many years and for her father. Lucille was always there to help whoever needed her. She was the favorite babysitter for all the great nieces and nephews. Lucille also helped out at the family business, Probst Amoco, as a cashier. She helped out at Catholic Charities Secondhand Rose store for many years, as well as going to the nursing homes to visit and call numbers for Bingo. Lucille will always be remembered for her beautiful smile and love for her family. She loved being with the little ones at birthday parties and holidays. The great-great nieces and nephews were always excited to see Aunt Lucille.
Lucille is survived by her brother, Raymond J. (Virginia) Probst of Effingham; nephew, David J. Probst; nieces, Dixie (Bruce) Hartke and Cindy (Terry) Dalton; great-nieces and nephews, Todd Probst, Stacey (Rick) Hoene, Kari (Josh) Thompson, Doug (Megan) Probst, Shawn Hartke, Mandy (Bart) Wiedman, Jessica Hartke (fiance, Alan Clayton), Justin (Heather) Dalton and Courtney Dalton; great-great-nieces and nephews, Seth and Macy Probst, Madalyn, Grace and Drew Hoene, Bennett, Henry and Mason Thompson, Anna, Jake and Sam Probst, Brandon Hartke, Ty and Maddox Wiedman.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; infant brother, Tony; and niece, Marlene Probst.
