Wade Carter, 100, of Pana, formerly of Ramsey, died at 12:05 a.m. Sunday, April, 28, 2013, at Heritage Manor, Pana.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today, April 30, at Wallace-Carroll Funeral Home, Herrick. Burial will be in Myers Cemetery, Herrick Township, Shelby County. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time today at the funeral home.
Wade Carter was born Monday, Sept. 16, 1912, in Edgar County, the child of Silas Wright and Sallie Ann (Barnett) Carter. He was reared on the family farm in Carson Township, Fayette County. He attended elementary school at Liberty Country School. He married Lillian Caroline Jackson on Feb. 13, 1933, in the home of the Rev. Kenneth Blankenship in Ramsey. She died April 2, 2000. He was employed with Carpenters Local 183, Peoria.
He is survived by two grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lillian; son, James; brothers, Ervin, Ivan, Andrew and Earl Carter; and sisters, Joy Wehrle, Jewell Manley, Fay Wilson and Lola Bumgardner.
