---- — Edgar N. Albert, 87, of Hidalgo, passed away at 3:50 p.m. on Aug. 30, 2013 at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral chapel prior to the service. Edgar was born on Nov. 4, 1925, in Hidalgo to Elmer & Edna Pearl (Cummins) Albert. He married Dorothy Tiemann on March 16, 1947.
Edgar was a Lieutenant correctional officer in the Joliet prison system for 25 years. He had also worked at Trailmobile. He was in the United States Army during World War II serving in the European Theater from 1943 to 45. He was member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Casey, the Greenup V.F.W. post #4598 and the Greenup American Legion post #566. Memorials can be made the D.A.V. Surviving is his wife of 66 years; sons Daniel (Kathy) Albert of New Lennox, Carl Albert of Effingham, David (Trish) Albert of Neoga, William (Barbara) Albert of Shumway; brothers, Kenneth Albert of Hidalgo, Chester Albert of Greenup, Fred Albert of Green Creek, Jim Albert of Lapeer, Mich.; Sister Mildred Carter of Hidalgo; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
