---- — Beulah Dolores Petty, 96, of Effingham passed away Friday, April 19, 2013, at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hall Funeral Chapel in Effingham, with the Rev. Kevin Colclasure officiating. Visitation is from 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday morning. Burial will be in Arborcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Funkhouser. Beulah was born Sept. 14,1916, in Cumberland County to Granville and Iva (Grissom) Kingery. She married Virgil F. Petty on Dec. 25, 1936, and he preceded her in death. She was a charter member of the Willow Street Church of Christ, which is now Cornerstone Christian Church. She loved children and taught Bible school for more than 32 years while at the church. Beulah worked as a part-time cook for Unit 40 for 12 years and also was a lifelong member of the ladies Home Extension Group. She was an avid gardner and loved growing flowering plants, especially roses and African violets, which were her favorites. She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Heuerman (the late Floyd) of Effingham; brothers, Forrest Kingery, Dallas Kingery (Hazel); and sister, Virginia Fulk, all of Effingham. Beaulah was a loving grandmother to seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Beulah was preceded in death by her parents, husband Virgil Frederick; daughter Sharon Habing; brothers, Noble Kingery and Vernon Kingery; and sisters, Reba Hinker, Bernice Donaldson and Barbara Shadley.
