---- — Michael L. McElravy, 66, of Effingham, passed away Saturday, April 13, 2013, at Cornerstone Hospice Care, Tavares, Fla.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Barkley Funeral Chapel, Greenup. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel. Burial with full military rites will be in Toledo Cemetery. The family wishes any memorial gifts go to Shriners Hospital for Children, 2001 S. Lindbergh Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63131. Michael was born on Jan. 6, 1947, in Effingham, the son of Vernon Dale and Gladys Maxine (Redfern) McElravy. He married Janet Patterson Carlen on Feb. 14, 2005.
Mike was a pipe fitter with Plumbers & Pipe Fitters Local 149 in Savoy for more than 42 years. He was a Marine Corps veteran who served two tours in the Vietnam War. Mike was a life member and past commander of both the Toledo American Legion Post 764 and the Greenup VFW. Post 4598. He was a member of 40 & 8 594 Paris, Toledo Masonic Lodge 834 AF & AM, and the Scottish Rite Valley of Danville.
Surviving is his loving wife; son, Brad (wife, Heather) McElravy of Toledo; daughter, Stefanie Vahling of Dieterich; stepson, Adam (wife, Candis) Carlen of Casey; grandchildren, Katilyn Meinhart, Chelsey Meinhart, Macey McElravy and Mya McElravy; and stepgrandchildren, Gabbi and Bella Carlen.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Theron McElravy.
