Carolee Virginia Hooker, 79, of Newton, passed away at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, at Newton Rest Haven, Newton.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Crain Funeral Home, Newton, with the Rev. Brad Harper officiating. Burial will be in the West Lawn Cemetery, Newton. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Wednesday until time of service at the funeral home. Memorial gifts for Carolee may be made to the Newton Christian Church. Carolee was born Jan. 16, 1933, in Jasper County, the daughter of William and Bertha (Sinclair) McFarland. On Sept. 16, 1950, Carolee married Melvin “Gene” Hooker. He preceded her in death on Oct. 3, 1999.
For more than 40 years, Carolee worked for Norris Electric Co-op as a cashier until her retirement and was a member of the Newton Christian Church.
She will be loved and remembered by her daughter, Sandra Wenthe (Lindell) of Newton; two grandchildren, Matthew Lee Wenthe of Newton and Kati Nicole Larson (Daniel) of Washington; great-grandson, Jay Wenthe; and brothers, Jesse McFarland of Molene.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Glen, Dale, Delbert and Gerald McFarland; and sisters, Florice Dufrain and Helen Wilson.
