Burma Lee Anderson, 66, of Effingham (Lake Sara), went to be with the Lord on Thursday morning, July 11, 2013, in her home.
Funeral services for Burma will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Christ’s Church in Effingham with the Rev. Jeff Michaels and the Rev. Van Brooks officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today, July 12, at Hall Funeral Chapel, Effingham, and from 9:30 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church. Entombment will be at the mausoleum in Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Christ’s Church in Effingham or the donor’s choice in Burma’s memory. Burma was born Oct. 25, 1946, in Enfield, the daughter of Ozna W. and Edna Mae (Williams) Midkiff. She worked in the bindery at World Color Press in Effingham for 25 years, where she also served as secretary-treasurer of the Union (Local 39-B) for many years. Burma attended New Hope and Christ’s Church in Effingham.
Burma is survived by her husband, Jim; son, James (Pamela) Jacobs Jr. of Effingham; daughter, Debi (John) Schaljo of Greenup; granddaughter, Alexis Hope Schaljo; stepdaughter, Kelly Shane of Effingham; stepgrandchildren, Nick McDowell, Maddy Field of Effingham and Adie McDowell of Champaign; great-stepgrandson, Holden McDowell of Effingham; brothers, Willard Midkiff of Enfield, Robert (Pat) Midkiff of Brownsville and Norman (Terry) Midkiff of Tuscon, Ariz.; stepbrother, Darren Midkiff of Kansas; and loving friend, Janice Perkins of Jacksonville, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
