Glen Brasel

Glen Benton Brasel, 105, of Kinmundy, passed away at 7:29 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at Twin Willows Nursing Home, Salem.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Kinmundy First United Methodist Church, with a 10:45 a.m. Masonic rites service. Interment will be in Gray Cemetery, rural Kinmundy. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Neal Funeral Home, Kinmundy. Memorial donations may be made to Kinmundy First United Methodist Church or Kinmundy Masonic Lodge 398 and will be received at the funeral home. Glen was born Wednesday, Dec. 11, 1907, in Kinmundy. He was the son of the late Harry B. Brasel and the late Ada (Gray) Brasel. His mother passed away when he was 3 months old and he was then raised by his aunt Dovey and uncle Owen George. On Dec. 3, 1928, he married Dola Chasteen at the Kinmundy First United Methodist Church Parsonage. She preceded him in death on June 25, 1991.

He was employed by United State Postal Office as a rural postal carrier and was also self employed as a farmer.

He was a member of Kinmundy First United Methodist Church and a 82-year member of Kinmundy Masonic Lodge 398 AF & AM and a 32 degree Mason.

Surviving are sons, Denton Glen Brasel Sr. (wife, Judith) of Kinmundy and James Brasel (wife, Nancy) of St. Elmo; daughters, Nellie Hiestand (husband, Sam), of Salem, Linda Robb (husband, Maurice) of Kinmundy and Clara Deadmond of Altamont; 18 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren and 52 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother, Burdette Brasel; sisters, Edith Brasel, Hazel Sebens, Virgie Metcalf and Mellie Tanner; daughter-in-law, Nelly Brasel; son-in-law, Richard Deadmond; granddaughter, June Bookhout; and great-grandsons, Perry Schade and Christopher Brasel.
