---- — Richard D. Ellis, 61, of Effingham, passed away Friday, June 6, 2014, at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Johnson Funeral Home, Effingham, with Dr. Joe Scheets officiating. Burial will be in Rentfro Cemetery, Shumway, Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday prior to services at the funeral home.

Richard was born on Oct. 16, 1952, in Chicago, the son of Larry C. and Ethel (Adams) Ellis.
Richard was a graduate of Mayfair College with a B.S. degree in engineering. He retired from Bell and Gossett’s Company. As a young man, he enjoyed skeet and trap shooting. He was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis 30 years ago and tried to maintain an easy-going, gentle-hearted spirit; however, the disease left him in his final years as a quadriplegic. Richard was blessed with many good caregivers and he appreciated all of them.
Richard is survived by many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
