Robert G. Hout, 84, of Effingham, formerly of Newton, passed away at 2:52 a.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at Evergreen Nursing &Rehabilitation Center, Effingham.
A memorial visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at Bauer Funeral Home, Effingham. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
Robert was born Feb. 3, 1930, in Edgewood, the son of Donah and Lola (Pemberton) Hout. He married Marilyn A. Trapp on Oct. 9, 1954, and she preceded him in death in 2012. Robert served with the United States Marines during the Korean War and was a former principal and coach at Newton Community High School. Robert was also involved as a member of the American Legion, Lions Club, Order of Moose Lodge, Elks Lodge and the Newton Band Boosters.
Robert is survived by his son, David Hout of Springfield, Missouri; daughter, Denise Hout of Mobile, Alabama; four sisters, Marvell Billington of Fairfield, Marilyn Raegan of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Patsy Dyer of Effingham, and Barbara King of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Marilyn.
