Sheila Kay Klein, 63, of Effingham, passed from this life at 1:01 a.m. Saturday, May 17, 2014, at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham.
Funeral services for Sheila will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Johnson Funeral Home, Effingham. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday prior to the service at the funeral home.

Sheila was born on Dec. 11, 1950, in Effingham, the daughter of George Edward and Bernice Bertha (Goers) Manuel. She met, loved and married her best friend, Charles F. Klein, on June 25, 1979, and he survives.
Through the years, Sheila worked at the Illinois Glove Factory in Effingham, Altamont Garment Factory, and World Color Press in Effingham from 1974-2004, retiring after 30 years.
Sheila had a sweet, stubborn soul and loved without condition. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister and friend. She had a compassionate and giving heart to all who knew her. She endured many trials in this life. She loved many things about this life. She loved reading, history, sci-fi movies, and horses, most passionately, the Kentucky Derby, being gifted with usually picking the winner! Sheila will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all that knew her.
Sheila is survived by her husband, Charles; daughter, Amy L. Klein (special friend, Travis Hazlett) of Effingham; brothers, Lester L. Manuel of Teutopolis, Charles B. (Aileen) Manuel of Gladstone, Missouri, and William “Gene” (Julie) Manuel of Effingham; sister, Helen B. (Tom) Doedtman of Shumway; sisters-in-law, Pauline (Richard) Winterrowd, Doris Jones, Margaret (Leon) Fulk, all of Effingham, and Patricia (Leon) Wohltman of Houston; brothers-in-law, Leonard (Betty) Klein of Homosassa, Florida, Clifford (Mary) Klein, James (Carol) Klein, Tom (Brenda) Klein, all of Effingham; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Sheila was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents, Glen and Helen L. Manuel and Henry and Dena Goers; one brother, Larry G. Manuel; sister-in-law, Rita Short and husband Ron; and brother-in-law, Herbert Jones.
