Larry “Butch” Ashbaugh, 58, of Noble, died Sunday, May 11, 2014, at his residence.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Clay City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Summers Kistler Funeral Home, Olney. Memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences may be left at www.summerskistler.com.
He was born April 2, 1956, in Effingham, the son of William C. Ashbaugh and Connie (Cooper). Butch enjoyed camping and spending time with his family. He had a love for music and took pleasure in playing the guitar. Butch was an avid fan of the Beatles and could play many of their songs. He married Debra (Tracy) on Sept. 8, 1978, at First Christian Church in Noble.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Debbie Ashbaugh of Noble; mother, Connie Ashbaugh of Effingham; son, Jonathan Ashbaugh and special friend Lela Wilson of St. Elmo, son, Daniel Ashbaugh of Union City, Missouri, son, Joshua Ashbaugh and special friend Terri McCoy of Effingham; daughter, Tammy Staley and special friend Chad Hall of Olney; sister, Sharon Miller and husband Mike of Farmington, Missouri; brother, William Ashbaugh and wife Iris of Altamont; sister, Debra Steele and husband Clark of Effingham; brother, James Ashbaugh of Effingham; sister, Pamela Bricker and husband Ivan of Clay City; grandkids, Brenden Ashbaugh of Noble, Kiersten Ashbaugh of Effingham, Kasy Ashbaugh of Effingham, Bryce McWhorter of Olney, and Bobby Staley of Olney; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; brother, Edwin Ashbaugh; maternal grandparents, Chester and Ethelyn Cooper; paternal grandparents, Alfred and Sadie Ashbaugh; mother- and father-in-law, Kenneth and JoAnne Tracy.
