Brittany Amber Aten, 27, of Sumner, passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at Indiana University Hospital in Indianapolis after an extended battle against cancer. She fought with great courage and faith never willing to surrender.
Funeral services for Brittany will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Beulah United Methodist Church, 1040 Buelah Lane, Sumner, IL, (located SW of Sumner). Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be in Aten Cemetery, Hidalgo. Memorials may be made to the Aten family on behalf of Brittany’s daughter, Piper. Brittany attended Bethlehem New Light Church with her family. She loved the outdoors with her horses, dogs, and cats having a special place in her heart. She filled the lives of those around her with laughter and love.
She is survived by her two year-old daughter, Piper Elyse Moore, Sumner; Piper’s father, Wade Moore, Olney; her parents, Carl and Linda Aten, Sumner; brother, Cody Aten, and sister, Ashley McCaslin, both of Bridgeport; and grandmother, Aleen Aten of Bridgeport. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous friends.
She was preceeded in death by her maternal grandparents, Thomas Seals, Elaine Bowers Seals and Shirley Seals; and her paternal grandfather, Don Aten.
