---- — Dorothy D. Marrs, 86, of rural Gila, (rural Montrose) passed away at 12:20 p.m. Saturday, June 22, 2013, at Heartland Christian Village, Neoga.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Blake-Wright Funeral Home, Dieterich, with Nate Hagen officiating. Burial will be in Trexler Cemetery, rural Newton. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. In loving memory of Dorothy, memorials may be made to the Latona Church of Christ Building Fund or Lincolnland Hospice. Dorothy was born on June 25, 1926, in Jasper County, the daughter of St. Claire and Mildred (Clagg) Davis. She married Harold E. Marrs June 2, 1944, in Latona, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 11, 1999.
Dorthy was a homemaker and worked alongside her husband on the family farm in Gila. She and her husband owned and operated a general merchandise store in Gila and later she became a real estate broker. Dorothy was a lifelong member of the Latona Church of Christ.
Dorothy is survived by son, Thomas (Nancy) Marrs of rural Gila; grandson, Paul Marrs of Newport, Ore.; sister, Inez Brunson of North Las Vegas, Nev.; sister-in-law, Helen Dyer of Newton; one niece; three nephews; several great nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two nephews.
