James J. McKinney, 94, of rural Toledo, passed away at 5:05 a.m. Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at Heartland Christian Village, Neoga.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Woodbury United Methodist Church, rural Montrose. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Barkley Funeral Chapel, Toledo. Burial with full military rites conducted by Cumberland County Veterans will be in Mullen Cemetery, rural Montrose. James was born on Dec. 8, 1918, in rural Toledo, the son of James and Ethel (Tolch) McKinney. James served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. James was a lifelong farmer and cattle feeder. He was a member of the Woodbury United Methodist Church.
Surviving are four nephews, William McKinney of Highland, Whitney (Janet) McKinney of Neoga, Wesley (Brenda) McKinney of Sedalia, Colo., and John (Ellen) McKinney of Champaign; and several great-nieces and nephews.
James was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Warren and Robert McKinney.
