After retirement from the Air Force, he continued to work in his career field in Civil Service at the Defense Mapping Agency. His retirement in 1994 led him back to Altamont, his hometown. During his service to his country, Charles married Joann Rambin on Oct. 22, 1955, in Shreveport, La., and she preceded him in death on Sept. 20, 1981. Together, Charles and Joann were blessed with three sons: Michael, Jeffrey and John.
