---- — Jane K. Thoele, 79, of Mattoon, passed away at 5:20 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at Mattoon Health Care & Rehabilitation Center.
A funeral Mass honoring her life will begin at noon Friday at Immaculate Conception Church, 2000 Richmond Ave., Mattoon, with the Rev. Dennis Kollross and the Rev. Paul Habing officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time Friday at the church. Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, 1200 Wabash Ave., Mattoon, is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Lincolnland Hospice of Sarah Bush, 1000 Health Center Drive, Mattoon, IL 61938. Mrs. Thoele was born Oct. 13, 1933, in Teutopolis, the daughter of Harry and Agnes (Habing) Kitten. She married Thomas Thoele on Dec. 28, 1954, in Teutopolis. He survives. Mrs. Thoele was a member of Immaculate Conception Church. She enjoyed working as a registered nurse for many years. In her spare time, she loved antiquing, collecting quilts and reading. She cherished spending time with her grandchildren, and she will be dearly missed by all the hearts she touched.
Along with her loving husband, Tom, of more than 58 years, she is survived by her four children, Terese Matthews and her husband, Nick, of Lerna, Eric Thoele and his wife, Dawn, of Croton, Mich., Kris Thoele of Lerna and Maria Thoele of Mattoon; one brother, Mack Kitten and his wife, Annie, of Teutopolis; four grandchildren, Ben Kane of Charleston, Anna Higham and her husband, Tim, of Oak Park, Maggie Wilson and her husband, Justin, of Chicago and Cydney Spiers and her husband, Greg, of Eugene, Ore.; and three great-grandchildren, Noah, Thomas and Rhiannon.
She was preceded in death by one grandson, Hunter Robison, on Nov. 3, 2012.
