Roland C. Rentfrow, 95, of Neoga, passed away at 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at Heartland Christian Village, Neoga.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Neoga, with the Rev. Robert DeGrand and Sr. Pat Thies officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery, Sigel. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Swengel-O’Dell Funeral Home, Neoga, with a wake service at 6 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Heartland Christian Village Auxiliary or to St. Mary of the Assumption Church, both of Neoga. He was born Nov. 21, 1917, in Stewardson, the son of Jesse E. and Della (Webb) Rentfrow. Roland married Emily M. Walk on Dec. 2, 1939, in Neoga, and Mrs. Rentfrow passed away on Oct. 29, 2001. He was a member of the St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Neoga, and a member of the Cumberland County Farm Bureau. Roland was a retired grain and dairy farmer, he was also employed at the Neoga Auction and Interstate Producers for more than 20 years. He enjoyed visiting with his family and friends.
He leaves three sons, Roland D. “Ronnie” Rentfrow and his wife, Marilyn, of Neoga, Robert E. Rentfrow of Jacksonville and John Rentfrow of Shelbyville; one daughter, Diane Ballinger and husband, Danny, of Neoga; 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Rentfrow was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Emily Rentfrow; one daughter-in-law, Laura Rentfrow; three brothers, Delmar, Donald and Norman Rentfrow; one sister, Geraldine Fallert; one grandson, Robert J. Rentfrow.
