Marilyn (Karm) Roedner, 81, of Effingham, born July 2, 1931, in Smithboro, died Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at her residence.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Kassly Mortuary Chapel, Fairview Heights, with the Rev. Ray Schultz officiating. Interment will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Belleville. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Kassly Mortuary, Fairview Heights. In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Marilyn was a homemaker and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Women of the Moose and the Ladies Knights of Columbus. Marilyn loved traveling, gardening, bingo and volunteer work for various charities.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank D. Roedner; her parents, John Karm and Rotha Wilkens; her stepfather, Joe Wilkens and her stepmother, Ruth Karm; and two sisters, Minnie Hall and Della Crawford.
She is survived by her children, Michael (Kathy) Roedner of Effingham, Dale (Kathy) Roedner of Hardeeville, S.C., Mark Roedner of Hardeeville, S.C., and Denise Seiber of Pontoon Beach; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and sister, Mary Williamson of Granite City.
