---- — Alma V. “Pood” Dial, 89, of Effingham, passed away at 12:35 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at Evergreen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Effingham.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham, with the Rev. Paul Bauer officiating. Burial will be in Rentfro Cemetery in Shumway. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday before the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to donor’s choice. Online condolences may be left at www.johnsonandsonsfh.com.
Alma was born Feb. 22, 1924, in Banner Township, the daughter of Henry and Dorothy (Crowder) Ashenbremer.
Alma was a waitress at the Tine Diner, Rosilyn Cafe, Ramada Inn and the Raintree Restaurant, all in Effingham. She was also a housekeeper at the Benwood Hotel and the Raintree. Alma enjoyed dancing.
Alma is survived by her daughters, Sandra Smith of Woodbridge, Va., Shirley (Stanley) Kyle of Shumway and Carolyn “Sue” McCormack of Shumway; sister, Wilma (Alfred “Pete”) Reed of Shumway; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Bryan McCormack; and grandson, Stephen Kyle.
